At the drag strip the
car created a lot of interest as I soon got the car in line for the first
run. |
The first run. The time
is poor because I thought that I had rolled out of stage, so backed up and
then set off. But the lights must have already changed. The speed is good.(97mph) |

Going into stage for
the 2nd run. |
The 2nd run. The gearbox
and/or torque converter are not perfect as the engine will only stall out
to 1,000rpm. |

This time is more like
it, not bad first time out with a £100 scrap yard engine and a faulty
torque converter. |
Also at York was a Reliant
Robin with a 2 litre Ford engine running very similar times so a race was
quickly organised. The commentator loved it and billed it as the Battle Of
The Reliants. I won, just. |

For most of the day the
car had a crowd around it. I took off the panels so people could see the work
under the skin. |
Another run resulted
in a 14.77 sec run. Its difficult to improve the time as all I do is put my
foot down. |

I won the £200
prize for the best car. Here I am recieving the trophy from Street Machines
Russ Smith. I handed the money to Robin. |
We were asked to park
on the Street Machine stand as Robins pick up was on the cover of the current
magazine. My Kitten was destined to go in the issue in a few months. |
