Me sat in the car having
an imaginary drive just before a night in the pub. Photo by A.Booth. |
The interior is panelled
with aluminium and steel on the floor. The gearbox is inside the car with
a flat panel underneath. |

When making panels, templates
are very important to ensure the panel fits correctly. There is a technique
to making accurate templates and it involves only trying to do one edge at
a time, then sticking the other edge on later. |
One of the most difficult
panels to make was the one around the gearbox and for this I made many templates
before I was happy with the shape. |

When panelling the rear
the main starting points were the wheel tubs. The rest just filled the gaps. |
To form the lip on the
wheel tubs I made a jig to bend them round. The radius is not constant as
I needed the front edge of the tubs to go to a crossmember. |

All the completed panels
out of the car, for final deburring before powder coating. |

The exhaust manifolds
required modification to get the outlet below the floor level. Morris Minor
propshaft is used. |
The car was practically
built up before it is stripped down for cleaning and paint. The engine was
the last item to come out. |
